Audibook is a company focused on enhancing the audiobook experience through its innovative mobile application. This app allows users to access, download, and listen to a diverse library of audiobooks directly on their smartphones or tablets. With over 3,000 titles available in Slovenian, English, German, and Croatian, Audibook caters to a wide range of literary tastes and preferences.
Since 2018, I have collaborated with Audibook on various projects, enhancing user experiences and contributing to the company's growth. My primary responsibilities included redesigning their mobile application and developing the product website. I also designed a dedicated platform and website for libraries, as well as revamped their back-end system. My latest project focused on creating a web platform that mirrors the mobile app experience and will replace their main product website.
Across all projects with Audibook, I faced several challenges. A common challenge was ensuring that the designs aligned with modern trends while being user-friendly for a diverse audience, including those who may not be tech-savvy. Additionally, maintaining consistency in branding across different platforms was essential. Designing for varying user needs, particularly for older library staff, demanded a focus on accessibility and ease of navigation. Overall, balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality and user experience was a recurring theme throughout the projects.
The client consistently provided clear guidance on their wishes and expectations for the interface design. They supplied detailed briefs outlining the content they wanted displayed in specific areas of the user interface and recommended competing interfaces to analyze for inspiration. Additionally, they demonstrated how users would navigate through the interface, effectively laying the groundwork for the UX design.
While the foundational UX was often established, I took the initiative to suggest enhancements when I identified areas for improvement. These modifications were discussed collaboratively with the client, ensuring that we remained aligned throughout the design process. Our ongoing communication facilitated a productive partnership, leading to successful outcomes for each project.
The main goal of the project was to design the Audibook web platform, which will enable users to rent, purchase, and listen to audiobooks online. This was a significant project that required extensive design efforts, and I suggested several UX corrections to enhance the user experience. I also analyzed Audible to identify effective design elements that could be mirrored in our platform. The development of the web application aims to provide users with the same experience as the Audibook mobile app. It consists of a landing page and a platform for users and it is currently still in development by the client and should be finished by the end of the year.
The main goal of the project was to redesign the client’s primary product—the mobile application. The existing design was outdated and did not align with the company’s current branding or aesthetic vision. Recognizing the importance of staying relevant in a competitive market, the client sought a fresh approach that would not only modernize the application but also resonate with their target audience. They emphasized the need for the new design to keep pace with contemporary trends while ensuring it remained intuitive and easy to use for all users, regardless of their technical proficiency.
As I mentioned before, my collaboration with Audibook spanned several projects aimed at improving their digital presence and internal systems. Beyond the mobile app redesign and web platform, I also worked on four other key projects. These included redesigning their internal back-end platform to make it more cohesive and user-friendly, designing a website to showcase their main product, creating a dedicated platform for libraries with a focus on usability for older users, and building a website to inform libraries about potential integrations with the Audibook mobile app.
